Donkervoort’s original home was behind the small barn of his company in Tienhoven. A few years later, he moved to a larger location near Loosdrecht. In 2000, the company moved to a prominent location along the A6 in Lelystad. This created a huge showroom and production workshop. Donkervoort cars were equipped with Ford engines until 1999. Then they entered into a partnership with Audi, the models after 1999 were therefore equipped with Audi engines.

The Donkervoort S7 was the very first production car to leave the factory. It was equipped with a 90-hp Ford engine block mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The rear axle and gearbox also came from Ford.

After this S7 came the S8 in question. This was a big improvement over its predecessor. It had a wider front axle, thus improving handling. It was powered by yet another reliable Ford engine. When developing the S8, Donkervoort also had an eye for the safety bit. The dual braking system and the two aluminium fuel tanks mounted in front of the rear axle are examples of this.

The car in question is a 1985 Donkervoort S8. The Super Eight was delivered new in Germany. In 1999, it was first registered on Dutch registration plates. The current owner has owned the car since 2010!

The bodywork is finished in a beautiful dark red paint together with a red/black leather interior. The chassis plate shows the code “JD0164”. From this it can be seen that it is the 164th S8 built.

The two-tone ‘Revolution’ 5-spoke 15″ LM rims give a nice contrast to the red body colour. A spare wheel can be found at the rear of the car. In addition, there are removable red doors as well as a red convertible top with the car. The paintwork of the bodywork is very nice with some slight traces of use. This can also be said about the interior. The fits on both the bonnet and all other components around the car are very neat. Behind the leather Donkervoort steering wheel, the seven ‘Jaeger’ counters are clearly visible.

Under the bonnet, there is a 2.0 4-cylinder engine that delivers around 110hp. Together with the driveable weight of only 680kg, it drives very sporty!
