Maserati Quatroporte 1 – 1970

Maserati 4000 Quattroporte, 1970. (First registration 22 October 1970). Chassis number AM1071212, engine number 18427365.

Color blue metallic combined with a beige leather interior and light brown carpet. This Quattroporte comes from the second series (tipo AM107) of which only about 530 were built from 1966 to 1970.

This impressive machine was imported to the Netherlands in 2007, after which the body was restored and equipped with new paint. The car is in a very good and very original condition.

The interior, engine compartment and trunk are completely original and show normal traces of age and use. Recently, the carburettors have been overhauled and adjusted by BCCP and the brakes have been overhauled. Currently there is 28,874 kilometers on the counter (read).

This Quattroporte is equipped with the 260 hp 4.1-litre V8 engine that is coupled to a manual ZF 5 speed transmission. In the 1960s, the Maserati Quattroporte belonged to the fastest production four-seater four-door sedan of the time (along with the Facel Vega and the Lagonda Rapide).

The 4.7 litre version of the Quattroporte was the fastest four-door production car in 1968 with a claimed top speed of 255 km/h. The Maserati Quattroporte was designed by Piero Frua and the production was provided by Vignale.

The Maserati V8 motor is equipped with double overhead camshafts and four dual Weber carburettors. The driving experience is great; the dashboard and controls are aimed at the driver and easy to operate.

The driving experience is comfortable and the V8 exhaust sound adds a wonderfully sporty touch to the driving impressions. Very nice is the presence of a period-correct Blaupunkt Cologne top-of-the-range radio that was also mounted in other very exclusive cars from that time. This Maserati 4000 Quattroporte is an excellent driver’s car in very good and exceptionally original condition!

A fantastic and rare car.
