Ford Mustang – 1966

The Ford Mustang that is offered to you by Classic Park is a first series car.

The car was delivered on the first of July 1966 in St.Louis, Missouri in the USA. In February of 1979 the car was exported to Great Britain where the car stayed until 2011. Then the car was exported to Belgium. During its time in Great Britain the car was taken to the current condition. There are a lot of bills of this process.

The original colour combination was a Candyapple Red exterior with a black Vinyl interior. At some moment in time the car was professionally repainted in the current colour, but it retained the black Vinyl interior. The car was also factory equipped with the 289ci V8 that delivered 200 BHP. The car is in very nice condition.

The Ford Mustang is the most successful Ford model ever. Ford created an entirely new ‘Pony’-car class. Affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short rear decks. The Mustang was always designed around simple and known technique that was often sourced from other Ford models. The idea behind this was that it would be cheaper to produce and to repair and it would produce less of a learning curve for factory workers since they already knew the parts.

The Mustang was a huge success. In the first 18 months a million Mustangs were produced. At the beginning of the ‘70s the Mustang became heavier and lazier, which affected sales figures negatively. The new generations often aided sales figures, but overall sales figures remained fairly stable. That is why the Mustang has been in production without interruptions for over 50 years with over 10 million produced models.
