Automobile Welt Eisenach
Automobile Welt Eisenach
In 1967, the then Automobilwerk Eisenach (AWE) opened an exhibition pavilion on Wartburgallee - directly on the B19 - and operated it there until 1995. At the end of the 1990s, thanks to the commitment of the Verein Automobilbau-Museum e.V., the museum became sponsored by the city of Eisenach in order to keep and present these technical cultural assets in Eisenach in the long term. Since the previously used exhibition pavilion had to be cleared, a listed industrial building on the former premises of the automobile factory was acquired by the city of Eisenach in 1998. Since June 4, 2005, the museum has been located here under the new name "automobile world eisenach" and shows the German automotive history of the Eisenach site.
