Agromen Museums

THE AGROMEN MUSEUM OF AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY WAS THE FIRST OF THE THREE PAVILIONS EXISTING TODAY.

Agromen Sementes opened the Agromen Museum of Agricultural Machines in 1995, based in Orlândia (SP). Its collection brings together specimens of high historical value, but, above all, of great emotional significance for the organization. This is because it almost faithfully portrays the genuinely Brazilian trajectory of the company and our agriculture.

The Museum brings together more than 1000 ancient pieces. There are more than 200 automobiles from the 1920s to the 1970s, more than 400 agricultural units including tractors, harvesters and implements, more than 140 antique clocks and more than 40 carriages. The place is open to knowledge, interest and curiosity from aficionados, students, researchers and the general population. The first machine in the collection was purchased before Agromen even existed as a company. It is in the family of its founder from 1953: a Ferguson 35 tractor, made in Canada. In fact, this was the second power unit purchased by the family. The first, a Massey Harris 55, acquired in 1947, was lost over time. But a similar one was found, restored and is in the Museum working.

The Ferguson 35, after 40 years of work, in 1988, was retired and renovated. A kiosk, at the time, served as his shelter. Over the course of several years, other machines were added to the collection until nine pieces were gathered. It is not lost on Agromen Sementes the great interest aroused in people by old tractors. To satisfy this interest, which is also that of the company itself, the owner of Agromen, Mr. José Ribeiro de Mendonça, created the Agricultural Machinery Museum.

From north to south of the country, representatives, collaborators and friends went in search of tractors, harvesters, implements, watches, trucks, carriages and old cars that might be of interest. Some people, upon learning of the formation of the museum, spontaneously donated machines or implements that until then they had kept with care in their properties. The collection is located in 8 buildings totaling 10,000 square meters. Another part is intentionally placed outdoors, on lawns around the buildings, forming the surroundings of the Museum.
