The Manor of the Automobile and Old Trades of Lohéac
The Automobile and Old Trades Manor
Thirty years ago, this Breton manor was still just a farm . It's hard to imagine that instead of this mansion, there were once cows, pigs, chickens and horses in dilapidated buildings. When Michel Hommell, of Lorraine origin, buys the Cour Neuve farm , he knows that his dream will not come true overnight, he who was looking for a place for his cars scattered all over the place, collected since the age of 18 years , fell in love with the small village of Lohéac. M ore than 15 years of work and hundreds of site meetings with local craftsmen were necessary to build and bring this large-scale ensemble to life.

Now it is one of the finest museums in Europe dedicated to the history of the automobile. 15,000 m2 of exhibition space in a 17th century mansion. More than 400 vehicles (including 30 horse-drawn carriages, 50 motorcycles and bicycles) of all types, of all ages and of all nationalities evoke a century of automobiles. Around a hundred models in period dress liven up all the collections and the thousands of objects presented.
Throughout your visit, you will discover unusual things, such as this still, witness to a time when the manufacture of alcohol was commonplace in our countryside with the right of distiller.
The most common objects rub shoulders with racing cars of all time, such as the Colibri, the famous offshore racing boat that belonged to pilot Didier PIRONI and in which he lost his life in a terrible accident.
This is all the Manoir de la Cour Neuve, a mixture of power and melancholy of the Roaring Twenties.
