The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a type of Mercedes-Benz car introduced in 1952. It was mainly used for racing, but due to the great interest in a production car, the 300SL Gullwing, with exceptionally smooth bodywork, seagull – folding doors and a top speed of ± 260 km/h thanks to an injection engine. A Roadster version of this car was also built, and parts of the 300SL were transferred to the 300 SLR Coupé.
Over the years, the series changed a lot. The car changed from a thoroughbred sports car to a sporty convertible. Besides the SL Coupé, a convertible version was also produced. This gave the SL an even sportier character.

The car in question is a 1987 Mercedes-Benz SL 560. The 560 stands for the engine’s 5.6-litre capacity, a V8. Less than 50,000 of these were produced, and were only available to the US, Japanese and Australian markets. Our corresponding American-model convertible is finished in a neat ‘Astral Silver Metallic’ opposite a ‘Royal Blue Leather’ interior. Otherwise, the interior is blue velour upholstered along with white headliner, electric windows & mirrors, wooden centre console, rear window heater and its original Becker Grand Prix radio.

The car’s chrome details and accents are still neat. It is in possession of a hardtop finished in the body colour. At the bottom of the car, there are 15-inch alloy wheels that complete the picture. The car comes with a full “History File”. This includes a Carfax report. This mentions that the Mercedes has a damage-free history. It also documents the low mileage. On 27-04-1992 it was 69,856MLS, and on 26-11-1993 99,000MLS, 27-06-1994 107,380 MLS, 22-02-2002 110,157 MLS, 28-02-2003 111,588 MLS, 27-09-2011 125,593 MLS. The original documentation even includes the Pre- Delivery inspection report from Mercedes-Benz which was done before delivery to the first owner. This beautiful Mercedes has not been driven much the last few years, so a major service and maintenance is necessary.

Under the bonnet is the 5.6-litre 8-cylinder. It produces around 230hp eb 373nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox and it shifts smoothly. This 560SL comes with US-Title.
