The Essen Motor Show 2020 cannot take place due to the current dynamic corona infection situation. Actually, the motor show should have been launched this year as a “Limited Edition” with fewer visitors and a reduced range of products. Now there is an official decision by the city of Essen that the Essen Motor Show cannot take place. The Ruhr area city, like several other major German cities, has an increased incidence rate of new infections.
“We regret that the Essen Motor Show cannot take place this year. This is a particular disappointment for our exhibitors as they put a lot of heart and soul and passion into the fair. At the same time, we understand the decision of the city of Essen. The infection situation in Essen and beyond is very dynamic at the moment and has worsened considerably compared to last month. Even if no demonstrable risk of infection has been assumed by trade fairs in the past, we understand that in the current situation, safety and caution are the determining factors in the actions of politicians,” says Oliver P. Kuhrt, Managing Director of Messe Essen. The visitors do not remain sitting on their money: whoever bought a ticket will be reimbursed.
Essen Motor Show 2021 from November 27 to December 5
At the same time, Messe Essen is also looking ahead: “We firmly believe that our business will return to normal in the course of the coming year and that the Essen Motor Show 2021 will be able to take place under familiar conditions. To this end, we are already starting the preparations now”, Kuhrt continues. The Essen Motor Show 2021 will open from November 27 to December 5 (Preview Day: November 26) at Messe Essen.
