On Saturday, 18 June and Sunday, 19 June 2022, the first edition of ‘InterClassics Days of Elegance’ will be held at the Chateau St. Gerlach country estate. Organised by the automotive team at MECC Maastricht, this new exhibition is expected to become the most luxurious car show in the Netherlands. The new event will be held separately from the annual classic car shows InterClassics Maastricht at MECC Maastricht and InterClassics Brussels at Brussels Expo.
Erik Panis, Manager of InterClassics: ‘The cooperation with our partners will enable our organisation to put on a high-quality event with international allure. We’re working hard to ensure it becomes the most exclusive car event in the Netherlands. Participants and visitors will be showered with the hospitality the South of the Netherlands is famous for, while also being able to admire the most unique cars and luxury lifestyle products. Nothing is being left to chance when it comes to positioning the presentation and quality of the event at the highest level.’
This is the InterClassics organisation’s first step in its long-term strategy, deploying the InterClassics name as a strong automotive brand in a context that is broader than just classic car exhibitions. Part of this strategy is organising several new automotive events. In addition to InterClassics Brussels in November 2021, InterClassics Maastricht in January 2022 and InterClassics Days of Elegance in June 2022, the organisation will be announcing several new initiatives soon.
InterClassics Days of Elegance programme
During the Concours of Elegance on Saturday, 18 and Sunday 19, June 2022, the most exclusive classic cars from a variety of categories will be on display and judged by an internationally renowned jury. On Saturday, owners of classic cars and modern super-cars can participate in a sporty Classic Rally & GT Rally through the hills of Limburg and the Belgian and German rural landscapes, departing and returning to Chateau Neercanne. The day will conclude with the Night of Elegance gala event at Chateau St. Gerlach. The entire weekend will feature the most beautiful and exclusive lifestyle products, along with new, exclusive cars — the classics of the future — all of which will be on display in the Chateau St. Gerlach art and sculpture garden. Renowned classic car dealers will also be offering the finest specimens from their collections for the occasion. The gastro team at Les Salons, the Chateau St. Gerlach restaurant, will ensure a divine culinary experience that weekend starring ingredients that are locally sourced and harvested from the estate’s garden.
Chateau St. Gerlach location
In the 12th century, the hermit Gerlachus retreated to the Geul Valley to pray and make regular pilgrimages to the tomb of Servatius of Maastricht. After Gerlachus’s death and canonization, his grave became a pilgrimage destination, and a monastery and church were built in his honor. Today, nearly 1,000 years later, as a hotel and restaurant, Chateau St. Gerlach is now part of the famed Relais & Chateaux group. US President George W. Bush and the Rolling Stones are just two of the hotel’s famous guests. The grandeur of the castle, surrounded by authentic outbuildings, vast and lush parks, gardens and vineyard, will serve as the stage for the first edition of InterClassics Days of Elegance on 18 and 19 June 2022.
